GIPP 2022

Plumbago Workshop and Taller Labrador invite you to participate in the 4th International Exchange of graphic postcards in Guanajuato. With the aim of encouraging and learning about the work of graphic arts creators from various countries, as well as promoting and preserving the production of engraving techniques (relief, hollow, planography and mixed), promoting it through the exhibition.

On this occasion the subject of: human figure (in any graphic expression) will be treated, for which reason all the participating works are encouraged to be the product of the artists' reflection on this subject, which implies that the engravings must be originals and the artists must own the intellectual property of them. For accessibility and handling of artwork, stamps must be created in a standard postcard size (10.16 cm x 15.24 cm or the equivalent of 4”x6”).

Bases:

To participate you need:

  1. Fill out the form on the Google Forms platform.

  2. Once the print run has been sent by some postal means, you must inform it by means of the official mail, along with the data of the shipment to follow up on it.

About the prints

  • The only size of the paper that will be accepted for the works is the one that corresponds to a postcard size, that is, 10.16 cm x 15.24 cm (4”x6”) either horizontally or vertically (prints that do not meet the requested size will remain automatically outside the postal exchange).

  • The size of the image is at the discretion of the author. 

  • Send a total print run of 14 prints, which must be serialized. From the total of the prints, 3 different folders will be made for exhibition, promotion and archive purposes; 1 will be to create a folder to cover project expenses and the other 10 are the ones that will be used to exchange between the participants.

  • Each participant will receive back a total of 10 different prints at random, from the participating authors.

About techniques

Linoleum, wood (burin, western or Japanese woodcut), metal (varnishes, mezzotint, burin), chine colle (on a thick support), siligraphy, lithography, serigraphy.

The picture

The size and orientation of the image is at the discretion of each author. 

on paper

Unique paper size:

4”x6”. Equivalent to 10.16 cm x 15.24 cm. (The stamps that do not comply with the requested measure will automatically be left out of the postal exchange)

Paper Type:

Cotton or handmade with a grammage greater than 250 gr.

About the signature and edition 

Signature:

The print run must be duly serialized, titled and signed on the front.

On the back add the following author data in order to provide enough data so that the authors can keep in touch with each other:

Author's name

Address or country of origin

Contact:  web, email, Facebook and/or Instagram

Production year 

This is so that the receivers can have more knowledge or contact the people from whom they received pieces, if they wish.

Edition size:

14 serial copies.

About shipping 

Each complete edition (14 copies) can be sent to the headquarters individually or in groups, in an envelope or package containing the signed, serialized and numbered edition. In addition, on the back of the image you must bring the artist's contact information, this is to generate a network of contacts between creators.

The cost of shipping and return will be borne by the participants , so they are requested to contain a return guide with a minimum validity of 6 months (taking into account the date on which we will begin to return the folders), or in In case of sending through the Mexican postal service, add the necessary postage stamps for the return (for participants from outside of Mexico who decide to use their postal service, the form of return will be agreed with the organizers) since by this same means The set of postcards corresponding to each author will be returned to them. At the time of proceeding with the return of the postcards, the participant will be provided with the tracking guide so that he can track it.

Packaging:

The edition must be sent properly packed, with a guard for each of the impressions as a first contact protection material. As well as in an envelope or box that protects it. In addition, it must be specified in the shipment without commercial value.

Important dates:  

Registration and package reception July 16 to December 31, 2022.

Returning process for packages set June 2023.

The date of the postmark on the packaging will be considered.

Terms and Conditions:

The organizers are not responsible for the physical state of the material provided, so it must be handled with extreme care, and once they arrive at the headquarters, the handling and care necessary for their conservation and distribution is guaranteed, and at the time of receipt it will be done a diagnostic form, which will be sent by email to each author, same provided in the registration form. Delivery and shipping times must be within the dates indicated.

The organizers reserve the right to use the images partially or completely for promotion of the project, without covering fees for the artists. However, credit will be given to authors on all occasions. Copyright will be respected.

The artists who participate agree with the foregoing.
